Abstract

Globalization through information and communication technology has brought significant impacts on various aspects of adolescent life, including sexual attitudes and behaviors. Adolescents, as the most vulnerable group to the influence of globalization, have unlimited access to various content on the internet, including pornographic content, which can shape perceptions and sexual behaviors that deviate from the prevailing norms in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the influence of globalization on the sexual attitudes and behaviors of urban adolescents with a case study in Manado City. The method used was a quantitative descriptive survey through questionnaires administered to 33 adolescents in Manado. The results showed that the majority of adolescents (93.9%) access the internet every day, 51.5% have accessed pornographic content, and 69.7% have dated. Various physical activities such as hugging (51.5%), holding hands (66.7%), and kissing (12.1%) have been performed by the respondents. Although 97% of respondents have received sexual education, the rate of risky behaviors remains high, indicating a knowledge-behavior gap. Adolescents' attitudes show inconsistencies between traditional values they normatively hold and more liberal dating practices they adopt due to globalization influences. This study recommends a comprehensive approach to Reproductive Health and Sexuality Education, strengthening critical digital media literacy, and enhancing the role of parents as communication partners in sexual education, so that adolescents are able to critically filter information and resist the negative influences of globalization independently and responsibly
