Abstract

This case study examines the analysis of managerial skills in relation to the success of MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) in the Airlangga Urban Village, Surabaya. The study aims to understand how MSMEs in the area manage their managerial capabilities, specifically how business owners formulate business strategies and set goals to achieve desired success. It is expected that this research will provide insights and ideas for the MSMEs studied, particularly regarding managerial capabilities. This study employs a quantitative approach to analyze the influence of managerial capabilities on the success of MSMEs. The sample was selected using a saturated sampling technique, resulting in 15 MSMEs from the food, beverage, and handicraft sectors. Primary data were collected through questionnaires and interviews with respondents. Prior to analysis, the research instruments underwent validity, reliability, and normality tests to ensure that the prerequisites for analysis were met. Data analysis was conducted using simple linear regression with SPSS software. The results indicate that managerial ability has a positive but statistically insignificant influence on MSME success. This suggests that, although improvements in managerial ability tend to be accompanied by increased MSME success, the influence is not statistically strong enough to demonstrate a significant relationship within this study's sample. These findings imply that MSME success is likely influenced by factors other than managerial ability that were not examined in this study.
