Abstract

This study analyzes the influence of production inputs on oil palm farming under independent (swadaya) and partnership (mitra) schemes in Merlung District, West Tanjung Jabung Regency. The research employed a farmer survey and multiple linear regression with dummy slope variables to examine differences in the effects of production inputs across farming schemes. The analyzed variables comprised land area, urea fertilizer, NPK fertilizer, dolomite, pesticides, labor, and farming scheme. The results show that production inputs and farming schemes simultaneously have a significant effect on oil palm production. Partially, land area, NPK fertilizer, pesticides, labor, and farming scheme significantly affect production, whereas urea fertilizer and dolomite do not show significant effects. Furthermore, significant interaction effects were identified between farming scheme and both NPK fertilizer and pesticide use, indicating that their effects differ between independent and partnership farmers. Oil palm production under the partnership scheme was higher than under the independent scheme. These findings highlight the importance of input management and effective institutional farming arrangements in improving oil palm productivity and provide considerations for strengthening farmer partnerships and optimizing production inputs.
