Abstract

Fatigue after work is a common occupational health problem that can reduce workers’ concentration, alertness, and overall performance, thereby increasing the risk of workplace accidents and decreasing service quality. Healthcare workers, particularly administrative and nursing staff, are frequently exposed to demanding workloads that may contribute to physical and mental fatigue. This study aimed to examine the relationship between workload and work-related fatigue among administrative and nursing staff at the Manyar Community Health Center in Gresik Regency. A quantitative study with a cross-sectional design was conducted using a total sampling technique involving 28 respondents. Data were collected using the Industrial Fatigue Research Committee (IFRC) questionnaire to assess fatigue levels, while workload was measured using a structured questionnaire. Statistical analysis was performed using the chi-square test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that 60.7% of respondents experienced significant work-related fatigue, while 57.1% reported high workloads. Chi-square analysis revealed a statistically significant association between workload and work-related fatigue (p = 0.01, p < 0.05), indicating that employees with higher workloads were more likely to experience fatigue. These findings suggest that workload is an important factor influencing fatigue among healthcare workers. Therefore, effective workload management, appropriate work scheduling, adequate rest periods, and organizational support are recommended to minimize fatigue, improve employee well-being, enhance work performance, and promote occupational safety in healthcare settings.
