Abstract

The Taman Pendidikan Al-Qur’an (TPA) plays an important role in providing religious education to children, including creating opportunities for students to develop their potential and creativity. The results of observations at a TPA in Sukadamai Village, Natar District, South Lampung Regency, showed that the students had received basic religious education, but there were still limited activities that could provide opportunities for them to demonstrate their abilities and creativity. This condition became the basis for organizing a talent competition as an activity that provides opportunities for students to develop their religious abilities, creativity, courage, and self-confidence. This community service activity used a participatory approach through the stages of initial observation, planning, implementation, mentoring, and evaluation. The activity was attended by 56 students aged 5–14 years through three competition categories: short surah memorization, adhan, and calligraphy through coloring. The results showed good participation and enthusiasm among the students, while also providing opportunities for them to demonstrate their religious abilities, express their creativity, and practice performing in front of others. Thus, a talent competition can serve as an alternative supporting activity for TPA learning that is more active, educational, creative, and sustainable.
