Abstract

Early-age sports development is a fundamental component of physical education aimed at enhancing students’ motor skills, character formation, and athletic performance. In football, playing skills are influenced not only by mastery of basic techniques but also by players’ physical condition and training motivation. Variations in these factors may affect the effectiveness of training and learning processes. This study aimed to examine the relationship between physical condition and training motivation with football playing skills among players in the 2015 age group at SSB Bhayangkara POP Semarang. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The population consisted of 15 players, and saturated sampling was applied. Data were collected through physical condition tests (cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, speed, agility, and balance), football skill tests (passing, dribbling, shooting, and ball control), and a training motivation questionnaire. Data analysis used Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression. The findings revealed that physical condition had a positive and significant correlation with football skills (r = 0.808; very high), while training motivation also showed a positive and significant correlation (r = 0.632; high). Simultaneously, both variables contributed 65.9% to the players’ football skill performance.
