Abstract

Islamic education plays an important role in improving the quality of human resources in Indonesia. One example of an Islamic educational institution in Indonesia is a boarding school. The implementation of education in Islamic boarding schools is in line with the goals of national education, namely to make the life of the nation intelligent. To realize this goal, it is necessary to implement quality learning strategies so that the resulting graduates are more competitive. One learning strategy that can encourage active participation of students is the peer learning strategy (syāwir). The aim of this research is to identify the participation of students in participating in peer learning (syāwir) and to determine the effectiveness of implementing peer learning strategies (syāwir) at the Al Falah Mangunsari Islamic Boarding School. This research uses descriptive methods, collecting data through interviews and observation. The results of this research show that the level of participation of students in participating in syāwir method learning activities is high. This is known from the behavior of the students. Most students are orderly, follow their lessons well and are serious about participating in learning activities. Furthermore, the effectiveness of implementing learning strategies is also very effective. This can be seen from three indicators of learning effectiveness measured in this research, namely students' activeness, students' learning outcomes and students' positive responses to learning. These three indicators show a high effectiveness category.
