Abstract

Implant contraception is an effective long-term method; however, its utilization coverage at Purwokerto Timur II Public Health Center remains low, accounting for only 8% in 2024. This low acceptance is attributed to a lack of knowledge and interest among women of reproductive age (WRA). Flipchart-based media are considered effective for delivering information innovatively by combining visual and verbal elements, making materials easier to understand and remember. This study aimed to determine the effect of visual education through flipchart media on the level of knowledge and interest in implant contraceptive use among WRA in the working area of Purwokerto Timur II Public Health Center. This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a control group pretest-posttest. A total of 66 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. The independent variable was the flipchart media, while the dependent variables were the knowledge level and interest among WRA. Data were collected using valid and reliable questionnaires and analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test (α < 0.05). The results showed an increase in knowledge and interest after the intervention. The majority of WRA initially had a moderate knowledge level (75.8%), which increased to a good level (93.9%), while moderate interest (51.5%) increased to high interest (84.8%). The statistical analysis yielded a p-value of 0.000. In conclusion, visual education through flipchart media has a significant effect on the level of knowledge and interest in implant contraceptive use among women of reproductive age in the Purwokerto Timur II Public Health Center area.
