Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between social support and subjective well-being among unmarried young adults in Salatiga City. The primary focus of this study is to determine the extent to which the level of social support influences an individual's subjective well-being in the context of early adult development. This study used a quantitative correlational approach, with 159 unmarried young adults participating. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. The research instruments consisted of the Social Support Scale (12 items; α = 0.952) and the Subjective Well-Being Scale (40 items; α = 0.984). Data analysis was performed using the Spearman correlation test because the data were not normally distributed. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between social support and subjective well-being (r = 0.821; p = 0.000), with an effective contribution of 67.4%. The majority of participants fell into the moderate category, both in terms of social support (85.5%) and subjective well-being (88.7%). These findings underscore the importance of strengthening social support in improving individual psychological well-being, thus providing a basis for counseling interventions, community programs, and social policies that emphasize interpersonal support. This research provides an empirical contribution to social psychology by highlighting the role of social support as a protective factor for subjective well-being in early adulthood, a frequently overlooked aspect of Indonesian culture.
