Understanding carbohydrates, proteins, and fats as the primary components of macronutrients constitutes a crucial aspect of building health literacy, especially for students at Vocational High Schools (SMK) specializing in Pharmacy. Based on observational findings, it was identified that students still require knowledge reinforcement in identifying the types, functions, sources, and characteristics of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats as a foundational basis for understanding pharmaceutical sciences. This community service activity aimed to provide educational outreach and enhance students' knowledge regarding the identification of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats as part of strengthening health literacy and fundamental pharmaceutical competencies. The implementation method employed an educational approach using a One-Group Pretest-Posttest design. The target participants were 23 students in grades X and XI of the Pharmacy Skills Program at SMK Babussalam Malang. The evaluation of knowledge improvement was carried out using pretest and posttest instruments, while complete data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with the assistance of SPSS version 31. The evaluation results, derived from the data of 21 students who met the analysis criteria, showed an increase in the average knowledge score from 24.76 on the pretest to 62.38 on the posttest. The Wilcoxon test results indicated a significant difference between the pre- and post-educational outreach scores (p < 0.001). Furthermore, the effectiveness analysis using the average N-Gain score yielded a value of 0.4894, which falls into the moderate improvement category, with 76.2% of students classified within this range. Overall, this educational outreach activity demonstrates that instruction regarding the identification of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats can effectively improve the knowledge of pharmacy vocational students. It also supports the reinforcement of health literacy, which is highly relevant to competencies required in the pharmaceutical field.
