Abstract

This study examined the acceptance of Agentic AI and its relationship with critical thinking among students of the Faculty of Information Technology, Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana. An extended Technology Acceptance Model was evaluated using questionnaire data from 27 respondents and Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling with bootstrapping. The model assessed the effects of perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and critical thinking on the reported actual use of Agentic AI. Critical thinking had a strong and statistically significant effect on perceived usefulness (β = 0.910, t = 7.583, p < 0.001), while perceived usefulness significantly predicted actual use (β = 0.734, t = 3.670, p = 0.001). Perceived ease of use did not significantly affect perceived usefulness (β = 0.059, p = 0.694) or actual use (β = -0.095, p = 0.553), and critical thinking had no significant direct effect on actual use (β = 0.221, p = 0.315). The findings indicate that information technology students prioritise functional usefulness and the capacity of Agentic AI to support complex programming and analytical tasks over interface simplicity. Critical thinking appears to strengthen students’ recognition of system value rather than directly increasing use.
