Abstract

The development of the Internet of Things (IoT) has enabled the implementation of effective and real-time electrical energy monitoring systems. This study aims to design and implement an IoT-based household electrical power monitoring system for the early detection of disturbances caused by overcurrent. The system utilizes a PZEM-004T sensor to measure voltage, current, and power, with the data processed by an ESP32 microcontroller and transmitted to an IoT platform for real-time monitoring. Fault detection is performed based on a current threshold, where if the current exceeds 2 A for 200 ms, the system identifies the condition as a fault, automatically trips to disconnect the electrical circuit, and sends a notification to the user. This mechanism is intended to reduce the risk of electrical equipment damage and prevent potential fire hazards caused by overcurrent and short circuits.
