Abstract

This study aimed to identify the motor ability level and basic volleyball skills of tenth-grade students at MAN 1 Garut, describe volleyball skills according to motor ability level, and examine the relationship between the two variables. The study used a quantitative descriptive-correlational design. Participants were students of grade X MAN 1 Garut, and data were collected through motor ability tests consisting of 30-meter sprint, vertical jump, throw-and-catch, balance, and zig-zag run, as well as volleyball skill tests covering overhand serve, underhand serve, overhead pass, and forearm pass. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson Product Moment correlation. The findings showed that motor ability and basic volleyball skills were generally in the sufficient category. The correlation analysis indicated a positive and significant relationship between motor ability and volleyball skills (r = 0.590; p < 0.05). The coefficient of determination was 34.81%, indicating that motor ability contributed to variation in basic volleyball skills, while other factors accounted for the remaining variation.
