Abstract

Human resources are the primary asset that significantly determines the success and operational sustainability of a company. PT. Bank Negara Indonesia Tbk Situbondo Branch Office is required to continuously maintain employee performance to avoid high potential employee turnover rates. The purpose of this study is to analyze and test the effect of transactional leadership style, workload, and work environment on turnover intention through job stress. This study is a type of research aimed at explaining cause-and-effect relationships between variables. The population in this study consists of employees at PT. Bank Negara Indonesia Tbk Situbondo Branch Office. The sampling technique was determined using total sampling (saturated sample). Data analysis and hypothesis testing in this study used Structural Equation Modeling - Partial Least Squares (PLS-SEM) using SmartPLS 3.0 software. The results of direct effect hypothesis testing show that transactional leadership style has a positive and significant effect on job stress. Workload has a positive and significant effect on job stress. Work environment has a positive but not significant effect on job stress. Transactional leadership style, workload, and work environment do not have a direct significant effect on turnover intention. Job stress is proven to have a positive and significant effect on turnover intention. The results of indirect effect hypothesis testing show that job stress is capable of significantly mediating the effect of workload on turnover intention. Job stress is unable to significantly mediate the effect of transactional leadership style or work environment on turnover intention.
