Abstract

This community service initiative aimed to repurpose used paint buckets into trash bins, serving as a simple means to support environmental cleanliness at the Zainul Ilah Larangan Badung Foundation in Pamekasan. The project was carried out by students from the Darul Hikmah KKN (Student Community Service) Post 07, involving several stages: material collection, bucket cleaning, wooden frame construction, bucket installation, painting, labeling, final inspection, and the selection of placement sites for distribution. The materials used included used paint buckets; green, yellow, brown, and white paint; paint thinner; wood; paintbrushes; a drill; a saw; nails; and a hammer. The project resulted in the completion of one pair (two units) of trash bins ready for use. These bins were subsequently placed at locations mutually agreed upon with the foundation. The initiative demonstrates that used paint buckets can be effectively repurposed into simple, functional, and economical sanitation facilities. However, as no quantitative measurements regarding the quantity or volume of waste were taken before and after the program, no measurable claims regarding the impact on cleanliness levels could be made. The provision of these facilities is expected to encourage the habit of proper waste disposal and foster greater awareness of environmental cleanliness.
