This study aims to describe (1) the type of function word, (2) the function of the function word, and (4) the grammatical meaning of the task word contained in the text of the translation of folklore in Gorontalo language by students in grades X-2 of SMA Negeri 1 Telaga. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The data in this study is in the form of lingual units of Gorontalo language task words contained in the translation of 10 folklore by students in grades X-2 of SMA Negeri 1 Telaga. Data collection techniques are carried out through reading, recording, and documentation techniques. Data analysis uses the Miles and Huberman model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions or verification.  The results of the study show that based on their type, Gorontalo language function words found in Gorontalo folklore translation texts include five types, namely connective words, prepositions, adverbs, interjections, and article. The grouping refers to  classification (Alitu et al., 1988:100) and is supported by the division of word classes (Pateda, 1977:25). In addition to the correct use of task words, data on the use of inappropriate task words were also found as an illustration of the extent to which students understand the use of Gorontalo language task words in translating folklore. Based on their function, conjunctions are used to express the relationship of addition, comprehension, limitation, opposition, causality, condition, concession, effect, purpose, comparison, affirmation, deadline, sequence of events. Prepositions are used to express the relationship of place and time, origin, direction/destination, and the object of action. Adverbs function to provide descriptions of aspects of duration, time, state, frequency, quantity and modality. Interposition serves to express the emotional reactions of the character and call. A verb serves to mark certain nouns such as character identity, gender, and respect. The findings of the function of the verb assignment were analyzed based on Fries's view (in Nikelas et al. 1985:6) regarding its distribution in sentences. Based on its grammatical meaning, the task word found, arises as a result of the functioning of the word in the sentence structure determined by the context of the sentence through the relationship between words, phrases, clauses and sentences that state the meaning of the relationship of addition, affirmation, contradiction, effect, duration, continuity, time, quantity, modality, conjecture, emotional response, as well as the subject marker of the perpetrator or owner analyzed based on the view (Chaer (2014) and Pateda (2011) which states that grammatical meaning is a meaning that arises due to the functioning of words in sentences. The results of the study show that the use of function word words in the translation of Gorontalo folklore includes conjunctions, prepositions, adverbs, interjections, and verbs with their various functions and grammatical meanings.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms of violation of the principle of politeness, analyze the factors that cause it, and describe its contribution to Indonesian language learning in high school. This study focuses on the violation of the principle of decency contained in the Instagram comment column in Gibran Rakabuming's upload about the meeting on the train. This study uses a pragmatic approach with a descriptive method and a qualitative type of research. The research data is in the form of 40 comments in the form of words, phrases, vocabulary, and sentences that contain violations of the principle of politeness based on Geoffrey Leech's theory. The source of the research data was obtained from the Instagram comment column on the upload. Data collection was carried out through documentation, reading, and recording techniques, while data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model which included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study showed that of the six maxims of Leech's politeness, violations were found in four maxims, namely the maxim of wisdom, generosity, appreciation, and consensus, with the maxim of appreciation as the most dominant form. Of the five factors that caused violations stated by Pranowo, four factors were found, namely direct criticism with harsh words, words driven by emotions, speakers deliberately accusing speech partners, and deliberately cornering speech partners. The results of the research can be used in learning Indonesian language in class X Phase E, especially debate materials, to train students to express opinions logically and critically while respecting and respecting the opinions of others.
