Abstract

Introduction: The widespread use of TikTok among adolescents has raised concerns regarding their psychological well-being, while digital literacy is considered essential in shaping how content exposure affects mental health knowledge. This study aims to analyze the relationship between usage intensity and digital literacy on TikTok toward adolescents' mental health knowledge level. Methods: This study employed a narrative literature review, examining fifteen relevant articles from the Scopus, Sinta, and Google Scholar databases within the 2022–2026 timeframe. Results and Discussion: The synthesis revealed that high-intensity TikTok use is associated with increased anxiety and diminished self-regulation, whereas digital literacy functions as a protective factor reducing the risk of cyber-victimization and cyberbullying. The interaction between digital literacy and mental health literacy, forming mental eHealth literacy, was found to be a key determinant in enhancing adolescents' mental health knowledge, confirming that TikTok's impact is context-dependent and highly reliant on users' digital literacy quality. These findings indicate the need for an integrative approach combining digital and mental health education to optimize the platform's potential as a sustainable medium for promoting adolescent psychological well-being.
