Abstract

Learning motivation is essential for students’ active participation and achievement. However, IPAS learning may become less engaging when it relies mainly on textbooks and conventional methods. This study aimed to develop Monopoly learning media for IPAS and examine its validity, practicality, and effectiveness in increasing fifth-grade students’ learning motivation. The study employed Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE model, consisting of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The research was conducted at SDN Sumberjaya 01. Data were collected through observation, interviews, validation questionnaires, teacher and student response questionnaires, and learning motivation questionnaires. The validation results showed scores of 98% from the media expert, 88% from the language expert, and 86% from the material expert, with an average of 90%, categorized as highly valid. Teacher responses reached 88%, while student responses averaged 87%, both categorized as highly practical. The learning motivation questionnaire during the field trial reached 83%, categorized as highly effective, compared with the initial observation result of 17.63%. These findings indicate that Monopoly learning media is valid, practical, and effective in supporting students’ motivation to learn IPAS, particularly Indonesian cultural diversity.
