Abstract

Digital transformation in second language learning has driven significant changes in the teaching practices of Indonesian for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) in a global context. This study aims to examine the forms of digital media innovation used in BIPA instruction and their relevance to global language learning. The research employs a narrative literature review method by analyzing academic publications, policy reports, and recent research findings (2020–2025) related to the digitalization of language learning and educational policies across various contexts. The findings indicate that the digitalization of teaching materials through the use of various digital platforms such as Google Sites, E-BIPA 2.0, Canva, and multimodal interactive media plays an important role in enhancing learning flexibility, efficiency, and personalization. The integration of Indonesian cultural content in digital formats further expands the function of BIPA as a means of cultural diplomacy at the global level. Nevertheless, challenges remain in terms of teachers’ digital competencies, gaps in learners’ technological literacy, and the consistency of instructional material quality. Overall, the digitalization of BIPA offers significant opportunities to strengthen the position of the Indonesian language as an international language through creative, adaptive, and sustainable learning media. These findings are expected to serve as a foundation for the development of technology-based BIPA policies and instructional models in broader global contexts.
