Abstract

This study aims to describe the archetype of Sri Ningsih in Tere Liye’s novel Tentang Kamu (About You) based on Carl Gustav Jung’s psychoanalytic perspective and examine its implications for Indonesian language learning under the Independent Curriculum in high schools. This study used a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques such as reading and note-taking. The research data consisted of sentences, paragraphs, and dialogue fragments that describe Sri Ningsih and are related to the concept of archetypes. The research data source was Tere Liye’s novel Tentang Kamu (About You) published by PT Sabak Grip Nusantara, the eighth edition in 2022. The data were analyzed using content analysis techniques by classifying the data into Jungian archetypes. The results showed that Sri Ningsih possessed seven archetypes: persona, shadow, animus, self, great mother, wise old man, and hero, with a total of 95 data points. The persona archetype appeared most dominantly, while the great mother archetype had the lowest frequency. The findings of this study have important implications for Indonesian language learning in high school, as they can be used as teaching materials for literature based on literary psychology, encouraging the strengthening of literacy, critical reasoning, value reflection, and character development in students, in accordance with the principles of the Independent Curriculum and the eight dimensions of the Graduate Learning Profile.
