Abstract

The Teams Games Tournament (TGT) cooperative learning model has been shown to improve student learning outcomes through collaborative learning and competition. However, its application in Indonesian language lessons in primary schools requires further investigation. This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) model in Indonesian language lessons, with a focus on improving student learning outcomes and motivation. The method used in this study is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) to identify, select, classify, evaluate, and synthesize 25 relevant studies published between 2022 and 2026 from the Google Scholar and ERIC databases. The results of the analysis indicate that the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) cooperative model is effective in improving Indonesian language learning outcomes in primary schools covering the cognitive (60%), affective (24%), and psychomotor (16%) domains. The implementation of this model fosters the development of social skills, enhances motivation, and encourages active participation in learning. However, the implementation faces challenges related to classroom management, teacher readiness, and time constraints. Thus, the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) model has been proven to improve student learning outcomes through the teacher’s role as a facilitator, instructional design, and effective classroom management.
