Abstract

Legal injustice and poverty remain issues faced by Indonesian society, particularly in terms of limited access to justice, education, decent employment, and welfare. These conditions demonstrate a gap between law in its normative form and its implementation in the realities of society. This study aims to analyze Plato’s Allegory of the Cave in describing human reality, injustice, and constraints, as well as to examine legal injustice and poverty in Indonesia through the perspective of Plato’s Allegory of the Cave. This research employs a normative juridical method with philosophical and conceptual approaches, supported by literature study as the data collection technique. The discussion shows that Plato’s Allegory of the Cave can serve as a critical perspective for understanding that injustice and poverty are not only related to conditions visible on the surface, but are also influenced by limitations in knowledge, access, opportunities, and legal structures and practices that affect people’s lives. Therefore, understanding legal injustice and poverty requires a deeper examination of the realities experienced by society rather than relying solely on formal conditions.
