Abstract

Difficulties in reading, writing, and arithmetic remain obstacles for some elementary school students in following the learning process. This activity aims to help address these difficulties through the Literacy Learning Space Program for third and fourth grade students at SD Negeri 003 Sungai Kunjang. The activity was carried out in August 2026 through seven meetings, comprising the stages of initial assessment, preparation, socialization, guidance implementation, mentoring and monitoring, and final evaluation. The participants consisted of 22 students from grades III and IV. Guidance was provided progressively through reading, writing, and arithmetic exercises using tiered Student Worksheets and flashcards tailored to each student's ability level. The results showed that students in grades III and IV experienced positive development according to their respective ability levels. This progress was reflected in improved letter and number recognition, the ability to read simple words and sentences, more structured writing, and greater independence in performing basic arithmetic operations. The activity also brought benefits in the form of increased student engagement in learning and helped teachers provide assistance tailored to students' needs. This program demonstrates that structured calistung (reading, writing, arithmetic) mentoring involving tutors, teachers, and students can serve as an effective initial effort to support the development of students' basic skills and should be continued sustainably.
