Abstract

Public Service Advertisement (PSA) plays an important role as an educational communication medium for the community, one of which is in preventing the increasing spread of online gambling. The use of cinematography techniques in PSA can strengthen the delivery of moral messages through visual and emotional aspects, making the message easier for audiences to understand. This research aims to implement cinematography techniques in the production of a Public Service Advertisement for Online Gambling Prevention and to determine the effectiveness level of the video in delivering moral messages regarding the dangers of online gambling. The method used in this research is the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC), which consists of concept, design, material collecting, assembly, testing, and distribution stages. The application of cinematography techniques such as long shot, medium shot, close up, as well as camera movements is used to support the storyline and clarify the message being conveyed. The testing results using a Likert scale questionnaire involving 51 respondents obtained a final score of 92.25%, categorized as “Very Good”. These results indicate that the Public Service Advertisement for Online Gambling Prevention is well-received, considered feasible as a visual communication medium, and has the potential to increase audience awareness regarding the negative impacts of online gambling, and is suitable for use as an educational and socialization medium
