Abstract

The implementation of the Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) plays an important role in supporting the digital transformation of healthcare services. However, its implementation still faces several challenges, making system evaluation essential to assess its effectiveness. This study aimed to review the implementation of the Hamis Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) using the PIECES framework (Performance, Information, Economics, Control, Efficiency, and Service) at Klinik Utama Jantung Hasna Medika Majalengka in 2026. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and documentation involving 10 informants selected using purposive sampling, consisting of a physician, a nurse, a registration officer, an emergency department officer, the head of the medical records unit, an admission officer, a laboratory officer, a pharmacy officer, a nutrition officer, and an information technology officer. The findings indicated that the implementation of the HMIS had generally performed well across all PIECES dimensions. The system improved service delivery, accelerated work processes, generated accurate information, enhanced operational efficiency, ensured data security, and improved the overall quality of healthcare services. Nevertheless, several obstacles remained, including network disruptions, system maintenance, server performance issues, and occasional data entry errors that affected service delivery. In conclusion, the implementation of the Hamis HMIS has effectively supported healthcare services; however, further improvements are required in infrastructure, system security, and human resource capacity. It is recommended that the clinic enhance network quality and server performance, conduct regular system security evaluations and data validation, provide continuous user training, and periodically assess user satisfaction to optimize HMIS implementation.
