Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of job insecurity and person-job fit on employee performance, with job satisfaction as a mediating variable, among honorary employees at the Regional Secretariat of East Kalimantan Province. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 281 employees and analyzed with Partial Least Squares (PLS) and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The findings indicate that job insecurity negatively affects both job satisfaction and performance, while person-job fit positively influences both. Additionally, job satisfaction significantly enhances employee performance and mediates the effects of both job insecurity and person-job fit on performance. These results highlight the importance of a secure work environment and task alignment with employee capabilities. Organizations are encouraged to use this research to evaluate and improve performance by focusing on strategies that reduce insecurity and enhance job satisfaction through better person-job alignment.
