Abstract

This study aims to examine the existence and transformation of Madrasah Diniyah Takmiliyah Ula (MDT Ula) Al-Jauharotunnaqiyah which is located in Sipanjalin Village, Ciherang Village, Gunung Sari District, Serang Regency, Banten Province, since its establishment in 1967 until 2026. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive-historical approach. Research data was obtained through interviews with the founder and the madrasah, observation, and documentation. The results of the study show that MDT Ula Al-Jauharotunnaqiyah was established by Mukhlas in 1967 with the aim of educating the people of Sipanjalin Village and its surroundings through religious education. At the beginning of its establishment, the madrasah had around 20 students and three teachers and received support from the local community. In its development, the madrasah has increased the number of students to around 50-60 people and is supported by five educators. The learning process is carried out from Monday to Friday at 13.00-15.00 WIB with religious materials such as Hadith, Moral Faith, Tafsir, and Fiqh, while the assessment system refers to the curriculum of the Ministry of Religion. From the aspect of facilities and infrastructure, the condition of the madrasah before construction was in a state of total damage, so it did not support the safety and comfort of the learning process. The transformation was then carried out through the construction of a new building which began in June 2026 and was inaugurated on August 8, 2026. The new building consists of two classrooms, one office room, and two bathrooms. This research shows that the existence of MDT Ula Al-Jauharotunnaqiyah is not only maintained through the sustainability of learning and the values inherited by the founder, but also through the ability of madrasas to adapt to the needs of facilities and conditions of the community without abandoning its original purpose as a community-based religious education institution.
