Abstract

This study aims to describe the character values cultivated through students’ daily activities and to examine the practices of character cultivation in elementary school life. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The research informants consisted of three teachers selected using snowball sampling. Data were collected through interviews and recorded using an audio recording device. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was examined through source triangulation. The findings show that character values are cultivated through students’ daily activities carried out routinely and consistently, such as greeting and welcoming students, classroom duty and mutual cooperation in cleaning the school environment, and communal worship. These activities contribute to the development of religious values, discipline, responsibility, cooperation, politeness, respect, and environmental awareness. Teacher role modeling plays an important role in the implementation of character cultivation, as teachers serve as behavioral examples that students observe and follow. In addition, a school culture built through familial relationships, communication, empathy, and the involvement of the entire school community supports the continuity of character cultivation. The challenge of limited parental supervision at home is addressed through the use of daily activity journals and a communicative teacher approach that does not emphasize punishment. Thus, cultivating character values through daily activities constitutes an integral part of school culture and is implemented repeatedly and consistently.
