Abstract

The use of herbal supplements as feed additives is gaining traction as a means to support the digestive health and productivity of laying hens without relying on antibiotic growth promoters. This community service initiative aimed to evaluate the response to administering a combination of soursop leaf, moringa leaf and turmeric extracts via drinking water at the partner farm, Griya Ayam Berkah in Banjarejo Village (flock size: 1,000; sample size: N=100). The herbal formulation was administered at dosages ranging from 3 to 7 ml per liter of drinking water over an intensive observation period of 3 to 7 days. Observations revealed a decrease in the percentage of hens showing visible symptoms of helminthiasis (from 18% or 18 birds to 3% or 3 birds), an 8–12% increase in water consumption, and visible improvements in physical vitality and eggshell pigmentation. However, it must be explicitly stated that these results represent preliminary visual clinical indications based on pilot observations and cannot be interpreted as a definitive pharmacological trial. Replicating this 3–7 ml/liter formulation requires further experimental research involving controlled groups and a minimum testing duration of 4–6 weeks.
