Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of basic movement agility-based futsal training on improving the agility of children aged 9–11 years at Tiga Muda Borneo Academy. The study was motivated by the low agility levels observed in children of this age group—attributed to factors such as insufficient physical activity, excessive gadget use, and indulgent parenting styles that foster a reluctance to exercise—as well as the fact that previous futsal training programs were monotonous and lacked proper structure. A quantitative research method employing a one-group pretest-posttest design was used. The sample consisted of 15 children aged 9–11 years participating in futsal training at Tiga Muda Borneo Academy. The research process began with a pretest, followed by an intervention program comprising zigzag runs, shuttle runs, rapid changes of direction, footwork coordination, and balance exercises. The results demonstrated an improvement in the children's agility following the intervention, evidenced by average times of 6.02 seconds in the pretest and 4.75 seconds in the posttest. Normality testing using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test yielded values of 0.064 (>0.05) for the pretest and 0.056 (>0.05) for the posttest, indicating a normal data distribution. It is concluded that basic movement agility-based futsal training positively influences the agility of children aged 9–11 years and serves as an effective training program for supporting motor skill development within the context of futsal.
