Abstract

The management of People's Business Credit (KUR) funds based on Islamic economic principles represents a strategic instrument for strengthening the economic independence of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), particularly in rural areas of East Aceh. This study aims to analyze the effect of Sharia-based KUR fund management on MSME economic independence and identify the mechanisms and challenges associated with its implementation. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, integrating quantitative and qualitative analyses. Quantitative data were collected through a survey of 114 MSME owners who received KUR financing, while qualitative data were obtained through interviews with banking institutions and MSME operators. The findings indicate that Sharia-based KUR fund management has a positive and statistically significant effect on MSME economic independence, with a regression coefficient of 0.242, a t-value of 8.634, and a significance level of 0.000. Qualitative findings suggest that financing effectiveness is supported by business eligibility verification, compliance with Sharia principles, monitoring, and business assistance. However, uncertainty regarding field survey schedules, limited Islamic financial literacy, and inadequate managerial capacity remain significant challenges. This study recommends strengthening financing governance, service transparency, financial literacy, and continuous business assistance to establish an inclusive and sustainable MSME financing ecosystem.
