Abstract

This study examines the effect of adding rice husk ash and trass on the California Bearing Ratio (CBR) and permeability of sandy clay soil. This type of soil is often used in construction but has limitations in bearing capacity and hydraulic stability. Rice husk ash and trass are used as stabilization materials because they contain pozzolanic compounds that can improve the mechanical properties of the soil. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of rice husk ash and trass on soil bearing capacity (CBR) and permeability. The mixture composition variations in this study are 12% Rice Husk Ash and 0, 3, 6, and 9% Trass. Individually, the addition of 12% rice husk ash increases the CBR value to 18.50 (63.35%), while 3% trass increases the CBR to 21.76 (17.62%). In the optimal combination (12% rice husk ash + 9% trass), a maximum CBR value of 27.32 was achieved (a 47.67% increase compared to the original soil) and a 64.28% decrease in permeability. The conclusion of the study proves that the combination of rice husk ash and trass is effective for stabilizing sandy clay soil, with an increase in bearing capacity and a reduction in permeability.
