Abstract

PG70 modified asphalt is designed to have better resistance to high temperatures, with a softening point of up to 70°C, making it more stable in tropical climates that experience extreme road surface temperatures. This condition is important considering that road surface temperatures often exceed 60°C, especially in areas with high sunlight intensity. This study aims to analyze the stability of hot asphalt mixtures using PG 70 modified asphalt (AC-BC) and Analyze the environmental impacts resulting from each PG 70 type of modified asphalt mixture, this study then conducted sample examinations to obtain primary data to analyze the research findings of increasing asphalt content in the mixture generally increases all environmental impact indicators (ADP, GWP, AP, EP); although PG 70 asphalt specifically reduces GWP, the reduction in environmental impact below 40% does not meet the expected minimum criteria. The findings also highlight that increasing GWP above 5% has significant environmental implications, in contrast to asphalt content of 6% and 6.5% which have been shown to meet the maximum permissible value of GWP increase. Therefore, this study confirms that optimization of asphalt content is very important to achieve an optimal balance between the functional performance of the mixture and the principle of ecological sustainability.
