Abstract

The success of exclusive breastfeeding is influenced by internal and external factors, particularly among primiparous mothers. This study aims to analyze the relationship of breastfeeding self-efficacy, family support, and the role of midwives with exclusive breastfeeding among primiparous mothers in the working area of the Poncol Primary Health Center, Magetan Regency. This study employed a quantitative analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of primiparous mothers with infants eligible for the study within the service area of the Poncol Primary Health Center, Magetan Regency. The study sample was selected using total sampling, comprising 52 respondents. Data were gathered using questionnaires on breastfeeding self-efficacy, family support, and the role of midwives, as well as an exclusive breastfeeding record form. Data analysis was conducted using univariate analysis to describe the characteristics of the study variables and bivariate analysis using the chi-square test to analyze the relationships among variables. The results showed a relationship between breastfeeding self-efficacy and exclusive breastfeeding. However, no relationship was found between family support, the role of midwives, and exclusive breastfeeding. These findings emphasize the importance of strengthening mothers’ self-efficacy through ongoing education and psychosocial support. Family support and the role of midwives remain essential for creating a conducive environment for successful breastfeeding, particularly among primiparous mothers.
