Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of using the experimental method on the IPAS learning outcomes of fourth-grade students at SDN 10 Koto Baru. A quantitative approach with a One Group Pretest–Posttest design was employed. The population and sample consisted of 20 students selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through multiple-choice tests administered before and after the implementation of the experimental method and analyzed using a normality test and Paired Sample t-Test with SPSS. The results showed that the students’ mean score increased from 63.70 in the pre-test to 85.50 in the post-test, representing an increase of 21.80 points. The Paired Sample t-Test yielded t = -7.356, df = 19, and a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. Thus, a significant difference was found between students’ learning outcomes before and after the implementation of the experimental method. The experimental method can be an alternative approach for teaching IPAS, particularly on water pollution.
