Abstract

Supplementation of micro minerals in a diet containing lemuru fish oil can support the antioxidant system, thereby improving the physiological response of chickens. This study evaluated the supplementation of Fe (iron), Zn (zinc), and Cr (chromium) in the diet containing lemuru fish oil on the digestive tract,  internal organs, and carcasses of IPB-D1 chickens. A total of 160 IPB-D1 chickens were reared for 12 weeks in an open-house system. The experiment employed a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and four replications, namely T0: control feed containing 2.5% palm oil, T1 (feed containing 2.5% lemuru oil), T2 (T1 + 20 ppm Fe, 60 ppm Zn, 0.4 ppm Cr), and T3 (T1 + 40 ppm Fe, 120 ppm Zn, 0.8 ppm Cr). Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA), and Duncan's multiple range test (DMRT) was applied when significant effects were observed (p<0.05). The results indicated that T3 (p<0.05) reduced the relative duodenal length and had no significant (p>0.05) effect on the carcass and non-carcass, compared to T0. The T3 significantly (p<0.05) increased the percentage of bursa fabricius weight, compared to T1. Minerals at the optimal dose improved physiological performance without causing adverse effects in IPB-D1 chickens.
