Abstract

This study evaluated the effects of feed restriction combined with Kumavit® supplementation on broiler chicken  performance and economic efficiency during the grower period. Parameters include feed consumption, body weight gain, carcass percentage, mortality, water consumption, abdominal fat percentage, Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), performance index (PI) and Income Over Feed Cost (IOFC). A total of 100 day-old broiler chicks (DOC) were reared for 35 days in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of four treatments and five replicate pens per treatment with five birds per pen. The treatments were T0 (100% standard feed), T1 (10% feed restriction + Kumavit®), T2 (20% feed restriction + Kumavit®), and T3 (30% feed restriction + Kumavit®). Feed-restricted groups received an additional feed additive, Kumavit®, at a dosage of 0.5 mL/L of drinking water. Feed restriction was implemented from 15 to 35 days, using a feeding schedule of 9 h feed access followed by 15 h withdrawal. The results showed that feed restriction significantly affected (P<0.05) feed consumption, FCR, PI, and IOFC, but had no significant effect (P>0.05) on live weight, carcass percentage, mortality, water consumption, or abdominal fat. T3 treatment sustained broiler performance throughout the rearing period indicated by the better FCR, PI and IOFC (1.49; 402.9; 59.60%) and lowest consumption intake (2,519 g/birds). Quantitative feed restriction up to 30% below the standard feeding level combined with Kumavit® supplementation was able to maintain broiler performance while significantly improving feed utilization efficiency and economic returns. Therefore, quantitative feed restriction combined with Kumavit® can be applied as a management strategy to enhance the efficiency of broiler production.
