Abstract

Gili Iyang Island is a health tourism destination whose appeal is associated with its environmental conditions and air quality. This study aims to analyze the socioecological relationships among health tourism, community economic resilience, and local wisdom in environmental conservation practices on Gili Iyang Island. It employed a qualitative phenomenological approach involving 65 purposively selected informants, including community leaders, elders, village officials, tourism business operators, religious leaders, homemakers, women traders, and fishers. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and participatory observation, then analyzed thematically using MAXQDA 24. The findings indicate that health tourism is associated with environmental awareness, while income diversification and local investment reflect community livelihood adaptation strategies. Local wisdom serves as an integrative mechanism through community participation, environmental ethics, and local knowledge systems. This study proposes the “Blue-Green Balance” as an interpretive model explaining the interconnectedness of tourism, economic, social, cultural, and environmental dimensions. The model provides a basis for developing health tourism and environmental conservation initiatives grounded in local potential and community participation.
