Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of outreach activities and the resulting increase in understanding among the residents of Momea Village, Tongauna Subdistrict, Konawe Regency, regarding access to social assistance through the Community Service Program (KKN). The activities were carried out based on observations and the identification of the community’s information needs regarding social assistance. The methods used were direct outreach and education, involving representatives from the Konawe Regency Social Services Office as resource persons, as well as the Momea Village Government. The material presented covered the types and targets of social assistance, eligibility requirements and criteria for recipients, the importance of ensuring consistency between demographic data and socioeconomic data, and how to obtain information about social assistance programs. Following the presentation, the activity continued with a discussion and question-and-answer session, providing the community with an opportunity to ask questions and raise issues related to social assistance. The activity was evaluated by observing community engagement, participant responses, and interactions during the discussion and Q&A session. The results showed that the community responded very positively and actively participated in the event, particularly by asking questions and raising issues they faced regarding social assistance. The outreach session provided the community with clearer information on accessing social assistance and served as a forum for direct interaction between the community and the speakers. Therefore, the KKN program can serve as a tool for community education that promotes understanding of access to social assistance and should be implemented on an ongoing basis with the involvement of village governments and relevant agencies.
