This study aims to determine the effect of financial literacy on the saving behavior of students at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Panca Sakti Bekasi, class of 2023. This research was conducted based on the phenomenon of students’ limited awareness and ability to manage personal finances, particularly in developing consistent saving habits amid increasing consumptive behavior in the modern economic era. Financial literacy is considered an important factor that influences individuals in making appropriate financial decisions, managing income and expenses, and planning future financial needs. This research employed a quantitative approach with an associative method. The population of this study consisted of students from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Panca Sakti Bekasi, class of 2023. The sample consisted of 62 respondents determined using G-Power 3.1. Data were collected through questionnaires using a Likert scale and analyzed using validity tests, reliability tests, classical assumption tests, simple linear regression analysis, t-test, and coefficient of determination analysis. The results showed that financial literacy has a positive and significant effect on students’ saving behavior. The simple linear regression analysis produced a regression coefficient of 0.475, indicating that an increase in financial literacy will improve saving behavior. The hypothesis testing showed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, meaning that financial literacy significantly affects students’ saving behavior. Furthermore, the coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.250 indicates that financial literacy contributes 25% to saving behavior, while the remaining 75% is influenced by other factors outside this study. These findings indicate that improving students’ financial literacy is an important effort to encourage better financial management and strengthen saving habits among university students.
