Abstract

The Student Community Service Program (KKN) represents a form of higher education outreach that serves as a platform for students to apply academic knowledge while learning from the realities of community life. This study aims to describe and interpret the implementation of the KKN program in terms of strengthening religious literacy, social concern, and community cohesion in Kampung Tua Dapur 12, Sungai Pelunggut Urban Village, Sagulung District, Batam City. The study employs a qualitative approach with a phenomenological perspective. Data were gathered through field observations, activity documentation, and reflections on student experiences during the KKN implementation period from August 5 to 19, 2026. Data analysis was conducted thematically by identifying experiences, interaction patterns, community responses, and the meanings that emerged throughout the activities. The results indicate that the KKN program—comprising TPQ (Quran education) teaching, recitation of Surah Al-Mulk, Quran completion ceremonies (*khataman*), *Yasin* recitations, women's prayer gatherings (*wirid*), congregational prayers, support for orphans, Islamic competitions, morning aerobics, health check-ups, *murottal* recitations, and the provision of a mosque water supply—successfully created a space for interaction between students and the community. These activities not only strengthened religious practices but also fostered social concern and community togetherness. From a phenomenological standpoint, students experienced a shift in their understanding of community service, moving from merely making a contribution to engaging in a process of mutual learning with the community. Thus, the KKN program serves as a medium for social learning while simultaneously strengthening religious life and community solidarity.
