Abstract

Classroom discipline is an important component of classroom management because it plays a significant role in creating an orderly, conducive, and productive learning environment. Classroom discipline problems can still be found in various forms, such as tardiness, absenteeism, inappropriate use of gadgets for learning purposes, and behaviors that disrupt the learning process. This study aims to examine the concept of classroom discipline, relevant theoretical foundations, factors influencing discipline, approaches and strategies for its implementation, as well as challenges faced by teachers in managing classroom discipline. This study employs a library research method by collecting, reviewing, and synthesizing relevant literature, particularly books and scholarly works discussing classroom management, student discipline, and behavioral management strategies. The findings indicate that classroom discipline is not merely related to rule enforcement but also constitutes an educational process that involves developing students' responsibility, awareness, and positive behavior. The implementation of discipline can be carried out through preventive approaches, positive teacher-student relationships, positive reinforcement, gradual behavior management, and restorative approaches. The effectiveness of classroom discipline is influenced by student characteristics, teacher competence, classroom and school environments, as well as family and social support. Therefore, effective classroom discipline management requires a consistent and humane approach that is adapted to students' needs.
