Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of animation media implementation on students’ learning interest in the Marketing Management course in the Business Education Study Program, Universitas Negeri Medan. The study used a quantitative approach with an ex post facto design. Data were collected through a questionnaire using a Likert scale and analyzed with SPSS through validity, reliability, normality, linearity, simple linear regression, t-test, and coefficient of determination analyses. The population consisted of 87 students of the 2024 cohort who took Marketing Management, while the SPSS analysis output involved 15 respondents. The findings show that the regression coefficient for animation media was -0.070, with t = -0.391 and significance = 0.702 (>0.05). The coefficient of determination was R² = 0.012, indicating that animation media explained 1.2% of the variation in learning interest. Thus, the alternative hypothesis was not supported. Nevertheless, animation media has practical potential as a supporting medium because it can provide more varied, visual, and interactive presentation of conceptual material. The findings suggest that students’ learning interest is also shaped by factors such as intrinsic motivation, teaching approach, lecturer–student interaction, learning environment, and readiness to use technology.
