Abstract

This study aims to explore and describe in depth the utilization of PT Aksara Sarana Telematika (AKSATA) internet services in supporting the economic activities of MSMEs in Jambi City. The study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive exploratory method in the form of a case study. Research informants were selected by purposive sampling, consisting of one AKSATA management representative and four MSMEs who are AKSATA customers from various business sectors (grocery stores, fashion and accessories, handicrafts/Jambi souvenirs, and printing/laundry services) who have used the service for at least six months. Data collection was conducted through in-depth semi-structured interviews, non-participant observation, and documentation. Data analysis used the interactive model of Miles and Huberman through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing and verifying conclusions. Data validity was tested through source triangulation, technical triangulation, and member checking. The results of the study indicate that the utilization of AKSATA internet by MSMEs covers five main aspects: (1) stable internet access that supports smooth digital transactions and business operations; (2) utilization of the internet for digital marketing through social media and marketplaces; (3) internet support for online transactions and communication with consumers; (4) expanding consumer reach beyond the business environment; and (5) technical support from service providers that are responsive to disruptions. The obstacles found were technical disruptions and limited service coverage in certain areas. This study concludes that stable internet connectivity and responsive service support are the basic infrastructure that enables MSMEs to integrate digital technology into their daily economic activities. This study provides a theoretical contribution in the form of a contextual understanding of the role of local internet service providers in the MSME digital ecosystem as well as practical benefits for AKSATA and MSME actors in optimizing the use of internet services
