Abstract

This study evaluated the nutrient composition and in vitro digestibility of Ammoniated Rice Straw and Indigofera zollingeriana silage mixed feed and identified the most favorable proportion for sheep feed. A completely randomized design was implemented, featuring four treatments with five replicates each: P0 consisted of 100% ARS, P1 included 75% ARS and 25% IS, P2 had 50% ARS and 50% IS, and P3 comprised 25% ARS and 75% IS, all calculated on a dry matter basis. We assessed nutrient composition through proximate analysis and evaluated feed digestibility using a modified two-stage in vitro method. Data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA, followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The treatment significantly influenced all the variables measured (p<0.05). Increasing the proportion of IS increased crude protein and organic matter content and reduced ash and crude fiber content. P3 contained 19.66% crude protein and 73.63% organic matter and produced the highest in vitro dry matter, organic matter, crude protein, and crude fiber digestibility values (72.04, 72.91, 81.89, and 64.32%), respectively. Thus, the 25:75 ARS-to-IS mixed feed provided the best nutrient profile and in vitro digestibility, although in vivo evaluation is required before practical feeding recommendations can be made.
