Abstract

Teacher teaching performance is a key factor in determining the quality of learning and the graduates of vocational schools. This study aims to analyze the effect of work motivation and work discipline on teacher teaching performance at SMK Swasta Nurul Amaliyah. The research method applied a quantitative approach with a causal associative design. The population consisted of all 50 teachers, designated as respondents using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire with a 5-point Likert scale, tested for validity (r-count 0.279) and reliability (Cronbach’s Alpha 0.600). Data analysis included descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, t and F tests, and the coefficient of determination using SPSS. The findings indicate that work motivation has a positive and significant effect on teacher teaching performance (t-count = 4.695 t-table = 2.012; Sig. = 0.000; regression coefficient = 0.385). Work discipline also has a positive and significant effect (t-count = 5.923 t-table = 2.012; Sig. = 0.000; regression coefficient = 0.462). Simultaneously, work motivation and discipline significantly affect teacher teaching performance with the regression equation Y = 6.420 + 0.385X1 + 0.462X2, supported by F-count = 107.250 F-table = 3.20 (Sig. = 0.000). The Adjusted R² value = 0.812 shows that 81.2% of the variation in teaching performance is explained by both variables, while 18.8% is influenced by other factors such as principal leadership and organizational culture. The implications highlight the importance of enforcing discipline and providing continuous motivation to optimize teacher teaching performance in schools.

Abstract

This study aims to examine and analyze the influence of performance appraisal systems and compensation, both partially and simultaneously, on the work motivation of Civil Servants (ASN) at the Medan Center for Standardization and Industrial Service (BSPJI), as well as to determine the extent of their contribution to ASN motivation. Using a quantitative method with an associative approach, data were collected through questionnaires distributed to ASN at BSPJI Medan and analyzed with validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, partial t-tests, simultaneous F-tests, and the coefficient of determination (R²) using Jamovi software. The findings reveal that the performance appraisal system has a positive and significant partial effect on ASN work motivation, while compensation also shows a positive and significant partial effect. Simultaneously, both variables significantly influence ASN work motivation, with the regression equation Y = 6.214 + 0.326X1 + 0.542X2 + e. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 72.4% indicates that performance appraisal and compensation together explain 72.4% of the variation in work motivation, while the remaining 27.6% is influenced by other factors outside the study. These results highlight the importance of implementing an objective, transparent, and achievement-based performance appraisal system alongside fair and equitable compensation aligned with employee contributions to enhance ASN work motivation and support optimal organizational performance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of school principals’ managerial competence and work motivation on teacher performance at SMKS Nurul Amaliyah Tanjung Morawa, both partially and simultaneously. The research employs a quantitative approach with a survey method. The population consists of all 40 teachers at SMKS Nurul Amaliyah Tanjung Morawa, and the sampling technique used is census sampling, meaning the entire population was included as respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and documentation. The analysis involved validity testing, reliability testing, normality testing, t-test, F-test, and the coefficient of determination (R²). The results show that the principal’s managerial competence has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance, with a t-value of 5.205 greater than the t-table value of 2.026 and a significance level of 0.000 0.05. Work motivation also has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance, with a t-value of 4.205 greater than the t-table value of 2.026 and a significance level of 0.000 0.05. Simultaneously, managerial competence and work motivation have a positive and significant effect on teacher performance, with an F-value of 52.863 greater than the F-table value of 3.25 and a significance level of 0.000 0.05. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.668 indicates that 66.8% of the variation in teacher performance can be explained by managerial competence and work motivation, while the remaining 33.2% is influenced by other factors outside this study. Thus, improving teacher performance requires effective school principal managerial competence and high teacher work motivation.
