Abstract

The idea system within the Skouw Sae community, Muara Tami District, Jayapura City plays an important role in fulfilling their basic needs. This study analyzes what kind of ideas system is found in the society. The data were processed using qualitative analysis. The results of the study found three types of ideas systems. The first, which is sourced from the knowledge in culture, such as: the knowledge that comes from the traditional house of tangfa, the position of the land in society, the work behavior, the money as the symbol of the head payment, the work behavior, the money as the symbol of the head payment, Hoo as a symbol of the regulation of natural resource utilization, prohibition of liquor, arisan education as a behavior support the completion of higher education, beads and money as a symbol of dowry, behavior in kinship, shamanism and the symbol of village administration. Secondly, which is based on beliefs and religions, such as: order or kati as a symbol of belief and parade of Easter and Christmas torches as a religious behavior. Third, sourced from sports, arts and ceremonies, such as sports, bajo dance, wo and mandep as a symbol of art and ceremonial behavior around the circle of life. ABSTRAKSistem gagasan dalam komunitas Skouw Sae, Distrik Muara Tami, Kota Jayapura memegang peranan penting dalam memenuhi kebutuhan dasar mereka. Penelitian ini menganalisis apa saja sistem gagasan yang terdapat pada masyarakat tersebut. Data diolah menggunakan analisis kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menemukan tiga jenis sistem gagasan. Pertama, yang bersumber pada pengetahuan dalam budaya, seperti: pengetahuan yang bersumber pada rumah adat tangfa, kedudukan tanah dalam masyarakat, perilaku kerja, uang sebagai simbol pembayaran kepala, perilaku kerja, uang sebagai simbol pembayaran kepala, Hoo sebagai simbol pengaturan pemanfaatan sumber daya alam, pelarangan minuman keras, arisan pendidikan sebagai perilaku mendukung penyelesaian pendidikan tinggi, manik-manik dan uang sebagai simbol mas kawin, perilaku dalam kekerabatan, perdukunan serta simbol pemerintahan kampung. Kedua, yang bersumber pada kepercayaan dan agama, seperti: tata atau kati sebagai simbol kepercayaan serta pawai obor Paskah dan Natal sebagai perilaku keagamaan. Ketiga, yang bersumber pada olah raga, kesenian dan upacara, seperti olah raga, tarian bajo, wo serta mandep sebagai simbol kesenian serta perilaku upacara sekitar lingkaran hidup.

Abstract

This article aims to illustrate the economic functions of cross-border done by Skouw Sae community residents, Muara Tami District, Jayapura City to Wutung Vanimo Village, Papua New Guinea (PNG) using ethnographic approach. This study reveals seven economic functions of cross-border activity. These seven functions include fulfilling the family’s nutritional needs of a long-term food preparation idea system, apprehending the meaning of the land as a source of life, meeting the needs of salvation through protection and defense of religion through purchasing beverages for Christmas and leaving the idea system of Jesus Christ as the source Love, fulfilling the need for relaxation through school vacation activities and inheriting the idea system of the need for a refresher to familiarize the family, meeting the needs of the movement through village leaders’ visits to bring the leaders of the two communities together and inherit the idea system of formal and symbol leaders, meeting the needs of growth through traditional educational activities within the family and inheriting a system of ideas for the necessity of teaching for men. In conclusion, the economic function of cross-border activity is not only done to fulfill basic needs, but also the institutional needs and symbolism of local residents.

Abstract

Warga kampung Skouw Sae, Distrik Muara Tami, Kota Jayapura sering melakukan kegiatan pewarisan pengetahuan pada rumah adat. Pertanyaan yang ingin dijawab berkaitan dengan judul di atas adalah apa saja fungsi kegiatan tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan antropologi dengan menggunakan beberapa teknik yaitu: studi pustaka, observasi, wawancara. Setelah semua data yang dibutuhkan terkumpul kemudian dideskripsikan, dianalisis dan diinterpretasikan, dan ditarik suatu kesimpulan Hasil penelitian menemukan terdapat tujuh fungsi kegiatan di atas. Pertama, pewarisan pengetahuan kegiatan ekonomi (tegalan, beternak, nelayan, serta berburu) untuk pemenuhan kebutuhan dasar. Kedua, pengenalan perkawinan untuk pemenuhan kebutuhan reproduksi guna keberlangsungan kehidupan individu, keluarga, klan serta komunitas. Ketiga, pengenalan pembayaran kepala (denda) dari keluarga suami kepada kepada keluarga istri untuk pemenuhan kebutuhan kenyaman dan kesejahteraan tubuh. Keempat, pengenalan kegiatan Natal dan Paskah untuk pemenuhan kebutuhan keselamatan. Kelima, pengenalan kegiatan kunjungan keluarga ke wilayah Wutung untuk pemenuhan kebutuhan relaks individu. Keenam, pengenalan peran kepemimpinan kampung untuk pemenuhan kebutuhan gerakan. Ketiga, pengenalan pentingnya pendidikan formal untuk pemenuhan kebutuhan pertumbuhan.____________________________________________________________Residents of the Skouw Sae village, Muara Tami District, Jayapura City often carry out inheritance activities in traditional houses. The question to be answered regarding the title above is what are the functions of the activity. This study uses an anthropological approach using several techniques, namely: literature study, observation, interview. After all the required data collected then described, analyzed and interpreted, and drawn a conclusion The results of the study found that there are seven functions of the above activities. First, inheritance of knowledge of economic activities (moor, breeding, fishing, and hunting) to fulfill basic needs. Second, the introduction of marriage for the fulfillment of reproductive needs in order to sustain the lives of individuals, families, clans and communities. Third, the introduction of head payments (fines) from the husband's family to the wife's family to fulfill the body's comfort and well-being needs. Fourth, the introduction of Christmas and Easter activities to meet safety needs. Fifth, the introduction of family visit activities to the Wutung area to fulfill individual relaxation needs. Sixth, the introduction of the village leadership role to fulfill the needs of the movement. Third, the introduction of the importance of formal education to fulfill growth needs.
