Abstract

Songs do not merely function as a form of entertainment, but also serve as a medium for conveying emotional experiences, psychological conditions, and interpersonal relationships through poetic and implicit language. This study selected the song Rayuan Perempuan Gila by Nadin Amizah as the object of analysis to examine the use of illocutionary speech acts in its lyrics. The purpose of this research is to describe the types of illocutionary speech acts found in the lyrics of the song Rayuan Perempuan Gila. The research data consist of lyric excerpts containing illocutionary speech acts. This study employed a qualitative descriptive method with a pragmatic approach. The findings reveal four types of illocutionary speech acts in the song lyrics, namely assertive, directive, commissive, and expressive speech acts. Among these categories, expressive speech acts appeared most dominantly because the lyrics predominantly express fear, anxiety, inner conflict, and the speaker’s emotional struggles. The use of illocutionary speech acts in Rayuan Perempuan Gila reflects how the speaker’s emotional experiences are conveyed through lyrics that are poetic, personal, and emotionally meaningful.
