Abstract

Spatial disparities in regional tourism development remain a critical barrier to sustainable economic growth in Bantul Regency. This study aims to analyze the feasibility and strategic formulation of developing connecting tourism between Kasongan Tourism Village and Goa Selarong. A descriptive-qualitative approach supported by secondary quantitative data from 2021 to 2025 was applied to Kasihan and Pajangan sub-districts. The analytical framework integrates the Spatial Gravity Model, Location Quotient (LQ), and SWOT analysis. The findings reveal a high theoretical spatial interaction potential of 187 million units due to geographic proximity (5–7 km), yet functional connectivity remains underdeveloped. The LQ analysis confirms a structural disparity, establishing Kasihan as an economic core (LQ = 1.30; 88 accommodations) and Pajangan as a lagging periphery (LQ = 0.09; 3 accommodations). This amenity imbalance causes regional economic leakage and contributes to a 27.7% decline in visitor arrivals at Goa Selarong. The study concludes that operationalizing connecting tourism through thematic corridors, collaborative governance, and digital integration can effectively reduce regional economic disparities
