Abstract

First-trimester pregnancy disorders are various medical conditions that may occur in pregnant women during 0–12 weeks of gestation, including Blighted Ovum (anembryonic pregnancy), Threatened Abortion (Abortus Imminens), Ectopic Pregnancy, and Missed Abortion. These conditions often have similar symptoms, such as vaginal bleeding, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, and reduced pregnancy symptoms, which can make early diagnosis difficult. This study aims to develop an expert system for diagnosing first-trimester pregnancy disorders in pregnant women using the Certainty Factor method. This method is used to calculate the level of diagnostic certainty based on the Expert CF and User CF values for each symptom, which are then combined using the CF Combine process. The developed system is capable of processing symptoms selected by users and producing the type of pregnancy disorder along with its percentage level of certainty. Based on the testing results, the Certainty Factor method was successfully implemented in the diagnosis of first-trimester pregnancy disorders. The calculation results showed that the highest Certainty Factor value was 0.9899 or 98.99% for the diagnosis of Blighted Ovum (Anembryonic Pregnancy). These results indicate that the system can help provide initial diagnostic information more quickly, measurably, and systematically based on the symptoms experienced by users.
